General Notes: Husband - Paul Joseph ARBOGAST
Paul was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and graduated from Hopewell-Loudon's first class in 1940. He attended Louisville University in Kentucky and later graduated from Heidelberg College. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II Jan. 4, 1943, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre with the 301st and 83rd Naval Construction Battalion. He was proud of his service to his country and was honorably discharged March 7, 1946.
He began teaching at Hopewell-Loudon School and started working with Hossler Construction in Tiffin in 1949 and retired as superintendant and estimator in 1990, dedicating more than 40 years of development to the surrounding areas. He was a scoutmaster, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a volunteer and captain for Clinton Township Fire Department, and he volunteered for Community Hospice Care, and was a member of the AMVETS Post 48, and American Legion Post 354 in New Riegel. He enjoyed gardening, playing euchre, traveling the United States and trips to the casino. Most of all, he loved his family and the times they spent together.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Friends may visit and share stories 2-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, (419) 447-2424, where a wake service will begin at 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Calvert Catholic Schools or to a charity of the donor's choice.
