Lester graduated in 1956 from McCutchenville High School and was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Nicholas Chapel, Frenchtown. After high school, he served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963 stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas. He retired in 1993 from Atlas Crankshaft, Fostoria after 24 years, was a lifetime farmer and a field drainage contractor for several years. Lester was a member of New Riegel American Legion Post 354, New Riegel Moose No. 872 and enjoyed working on his farm and playing Euchre.
