Amedes retired from Anese Masonry in 2000, where he was a tile, terrazzo, marble and cement mason, and was known for his floor designs. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin, the Local 46 union and VFW Post 2858. He enjoyed woodworking, refinishing furniture, gun stocking, fishing and golfing, and was an avid reader of Louie L'Amour books.
Amedes was a 1956 graduate of Calvert High School and went on to serve his country with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957 to 1960 and then moved to Italy for three years.
