Fred was a 1946 graduate of Calvert High School and attended St. Joseph College in Indiana. He was one of the first in Tiffin to earn the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, AMVETS Post 48, and a K of C Member of the Third and Fourth Degrees.
He retired in 1987 from IBM after 32 years as a resident field engineer.
Fred proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954. He enjoyed playing golf and woodworking. For more than 50 years, he enjoyed playing bridge and socializing with close friends in a couples group.
I knew FRED thru IBM. He was resident CE for IBM in Tiffin. I helped him out a few times because of my knowledge of Tiffin etc. A very nice guy
General Notes: Wife - Eleanor Jane MILLOTT
She graduated from Sandusky High School, received a bachelor of science in biology from College of St. Elizabeth, Morristown, New Jersey, and then obtained registry as a medical technologist (ASCP) after an internship at the Institute of Pathology at Western Reserve University, Cleveland. She was happily married to Frederick J. Amann and they made their home in Tiffin for 52 years before Fred's de
Ellie used her education for her career in hospital laboratories in Sandusky, Galion and Tiffin and really felt blessed to be doing work that she felt was important to the patients she was able to help.
She was active in her parish of St. Joseph Catholic Church, was past president of the Rosary Altar Society and spent many years working and supporting the parish festival. She completed the Diocesan Lay Ministry Formation program a couple of years before her retirement from Mercy Hospital, which allowed her to volunteer as a pastoral care aide at Mercy. She also was eucharistic minister to hospital patients, nursing home patients and the homebound. Ellie also was a eucharistic minister and lector at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Fred and Ellie were blessed with great longtime friendships; their couples bridge club was able to be together for more than 50 years of fun, caring and support for each other. After moving to a condo, it was an opportunity to join with more friends and activities, a knitting group, a Bible study group, good potlucks and social times.
She always felt she was truly blessed thoroughout her life with family and friends, a strong faith in our loving God and the many opportunities he has given to practice that faith.
