When Liz wasn't working, she gave back to her community through different volunteer groups and social organizations. She loved bowling and held different offices in the Scatterpin Bowling League and Carey Women's Bowling Association. She also was a member of the Carey Kiwanis Club, Carey Plus, Carey EMS and the Carey Ecumenical Choir. She also volunteered and held offices for the Wyandot County Aids Task Force and Wyandot County Substance Abuse Board.

A woman of faith, she was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey and was a member of the O.L.C. Shrine Chorale for 49 years, Lector for 30 years and Rosary Altar Society.
