He was employed for 43 years as a track foreman on the railroad. After retirement, he enjoyed mowing lawns in the community and having tea at the coffee shops. He proudly served his country in the US Army serving in the Korean War and earning the Korean Service Medal and the Bronze Star.
He was a member of the VFW Post 4406 in Belding, serving four terms as commander; he also was a member of the American Legion Post 203 in Belding
