General Notes: Husband - Arthur Leonard BREIDENBACH
Art was born and raised in Tiffin, Ohio. He grew up on a farm working with his brothers and sisters. Marie's family farm was across the road. Art met the love of his life at a one room school house that he and Marie both attended. Art and Marie traded pencils and the rest is history.
Art celebrated his 100th birthday this past April with approximately 80 of his friends and family. This accomplishment was recognized on the front page of the Tiffin Advertiser Tribune as well as WTOL evening news in Toledo. He was also paid tribute that day by active Staff Sergeant Sadler from the Monclova US Army Base, who personally thanked him for his service and for paving the way for our freedom.
Art was a veteran of World War II as a switchboard operator in Germany for the 63rd Infantry Division and was awarded the Bronze Star for "his unflagging devotion to duty". He was very proud of his service to his country. He was also very proud to visit Washington DC in 2012 as part of Honor Flight with his daughter Denise. Although he was 93 at the time, he refused to use a wheelchair during his journey that day. He said the wheelchairs were for "the old people".
Art was employed at the National Machinery Company for 34 years, retiring in 1979. Prior to working at National Machinery, he worked at Seneca Wire Mill and Huth Construction Company. After retirement, he and Marie enjoyed their winters in Palmetto, Florida where they developed life-long friends with dozens of couples at Tree Lakes Resort. They were the Activity Chairmen for many years, coordinating countless activities, including Marie's tea parties where somehow Art always ended up having to wear his tuxedo and serve as the maitre d'.
Art was an extremely faithful Catholic and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Tiffin. He made a commitment to God upon retirement that he would go to Mass every day. His attendance has been almost perfect the past 40 years. He was also a member of the Tiffin Chapter of Knights of Columbus where he was a member of the Fourth Degree, American Legion Post 169, Tiffin Elks Lodge #94 and Tiffin Eagles #402.
Art will be greatly missed by his family and friends. While a quiet and simple man, he had the gift of earning the love and admiration of everyone he met. He has been a tremendous role model for his children and grandchildren. His love of Marie has always been evident as he always held her hand as they walked together.

Marie and Art enjoyed a wonderful life together that was rich with love. They took great pride in their children and grandchildren, with whom they cherished spending time with as much as possible. Actually, Art and Marie both were born and raised on farms across the road from each other. Marie met the love of her life at a one-room schoolhouse. Art and Marie traded pencils and the rest is history. They wintered in Palmetto, Florida upon Art's retirement from National Machinery in 1979. They developed lifelong friendships with other residents of Tree Lakes Resort. Marie was always the Queen of the Resort as she was the Social chair for many years where her tea parties are still talked about today. She was a member of the Red Hat Society as were many of the other women at Tree Lakes. They loved getting dressed up in their best attire and enjoyed tea together. Art was usually the ma?"tre d' and donned his tuxedo per Marie's "request".
Marie gave so much of her time volunteering at St. Joseph School as the recess monitor and in the cafeteria as well as at the Betty Jane Center. She was always very kind and giving. She loved giving gifts, flowers and her homemade goodies. She also loved playing cards, in particular euchre, bridge and kings in the corner not to mention her passion for shopping. In addition, she enjoyed her working life with both General Electric and Tiffin Glass, which she particularly enjoyed collecting Tiffin Glass throughout her life and was very proud of her collection.
But no one in her family will ever forget her garage sales nor her countless appearances on Tiffin Tradio. While many questioned the accounting of her sales, Art always said these garage sales always cost more than when she goes shopping with the money I saw she made.

Anna was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the St. Francis Auxiliary, the New Riegel American Legion Auxiliary and a past member of the V.F.W. and the Knights of Columbus. Anna was truly a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a very hard worker and loved to spend time and play games with her grandchildren. Anna and Bernie, who were happily married for 62 years, enjoyed their ventures of trips abroad; including bus trips to the casino. Anna also enjoyed playing Uno, rummy and gardening along with making popcorn balls for the Lion's Club throughout the years.
