Mrs. Anway had worked for the Gordon Law Office in Tiffin, and later as a unit secretary at Tiffin Developmental Center in Tiffin, retiring in 2004.
She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Tiffin, the United Methodist Women, sang in the church choir, and was a 1959 graduate of Scipio-Republic High School.
She loved spending time with her grandkids and attending their activities; volunteering with the special needs students at Clinton School; enjoyed spending time with her friends, especially the Republic card club, the Friday night dinner group and the retired Tiffin Developmental Center employees; and
she enjoyed traveling with John in their motorhome.

General Notes: Wife - Verland Irene ANDERSON
Mitzie was a lifelong resident of Tiffin except for her 4th -6th grades during WWII when her family lived in Cleveland where she played in the terminal tower while her mother worked as a beautician. In Tiffin, she enjoyed growing up at the Junior Home where she hunted with her father. She wasn't an orphan, but her parents had taken jobs where her dad grew up. She loved being a "Home Kid'; at least one by family. Mitzie then married and settled down as a homemaker. Later she earned her real estate license.
The most important thing to Mitzie was her family. With her father an orphan, she cherished her Stevenson and her Iannantuono extended families. While she battled anemia as a child and was quite frail on the inside her whole life, she was tough on the outside, citing John Wayne as her hero. She said she had to be tough 'putting up with those 3 guys' (husband and sons). She cared for her mother, father, and brother till their deaths, and so many family members that she was known as 'Doctor Mitze'. Like so many who spend their lives giving, she shunned taking care of herself, like the time she ran in front of a car to save a child's life at Meadowbrook Park. She lived a long, full life
